Still recovering from the 2020 shutdown and going strong into 2022, TRUE Skool is slowly phasing in new programs, events and still working with an incredible network of creative project partners. We were still not able to host many of our in-person events throughout this year or our annual "End of the Year Gala-ry" however this is a unique opportunity for the greater community to join the TRUE Skool movement!
Recently, local entrepreneur Amanda Formaro and Artist, Kerse One made a generous donation of $5,000 to support our mission on behalf of https://amandascookin.com/
We are now reaching out to our newly introduced and deep rooted Friends for TRUE Skool with our End of the Year Match Challenge to help us double Amanda’s amazing contribution!
A word from our donors:
“Creativity has blessed my life in more ways than one. When I entered the internet world in 1997, I had no idea I would use that creativity to build a thriving business that would in turn help others. When Antoine Davis (known to the Milwaukee hip hop scene as Kerse One, pictured above with Amanda) and I met, we realized how many things we shared a common passion for. Antoine’s love for music, dance, and hip hop introduced me to a world I had only seen from a distance. Together we want to share the creativity we’ve both been blessed with, and TRUE Skool provides that opportunity to Milwaukee’s youth through the creative arts. We are honored to share our success with this amazing organization that enriches the lives of kids through creative expression.”
-Amanda Formaro
“Growing up in Cabrini Green & Milwaukee , I had to choose a stress outlet. While most turned to drugs, alcohol and gangs, I turned to Hip Hop. I’m talking Breaking, Graffiti, Writing , the whole nine, the rest is history. So yes, Hip Hop saved me. It protected me when no one and nothing else could. “
-Kerse One
TRUE Skool is more than a youth serving agency. We represent the most inclusive and influential culture on the globe engaging generations of artists and inspiring creativity all over our city, Hip Hop!

“Individual contributors help us not be solely dependent on the unpredictable gamble of grants. Every single person’s donation is an investment to this legacy work and ensures our ability to grow. This is a classic example of a local business woman who understands that giving back can and should be relational. She learned about TRUE Skool from a local Hip Hop artist Kerse One who has always supported the movement. ” expressed Shalina S. Ali, Co Executive Director.
